Regimental History
Twenty-second New York Independent Battery. — Capt., John D. Newman. This battery was organized at Lockport and was mustered into the U. S. service Oct. 28, 1862, at Elmira, for three years. It left the state on Nov. 23, and was transferred to the 9th N. Y. artillery, on Feb. 5, 1863, as Co. M.
